Some people came to the school.

学校里来了几个人。

Who were they?

They were builders.

They put a fence across the playground.

A lorry came to the school.

lorry 就是 “大卡车/大货车” 的意思

lorry 是英国的说法,在美国,会说 truck

一辆卡车开进学校。

What a big lorry!

What's on the lorry?

It had blocks on it.

上面装着砖头。

"What are they for?"asked Bilf.

“它们是做什么用的?” Biff 问。

Nobody knew.

Then a digger came.

digger 就是 “挖土机”

然后,来了一辆挖土机。

The children were excited.

孩子们兴奋不已。

Some men dug a long trench across the playground.

trench 就是 “壕沟”

dig,dug 就是 “挖”

几个人在操场上挖了一道沟。

"What is it for?"everyone asked.

“这是做什么用的? ”大家都在问。

Nobody knew.

It was time to go in but the children didn't want to.

but 是个连词,“但是”,它把一个长句子拆成了两部分。

该进教室了,但是孩子们不想进去 didn't want to。

They liked the digger.

他们喜欢挖掘机。

They wanted to know how it works.

他们想要了解挖掘机究竟是如何工作的。

Do you like the digger?

Mrs May looked at the trench.

Mrs May 看着壕沟。

She liked the digger, too.

Mrs May 知道它是做什么用的吗?

Yes,she did.

“It's for a new classroom," she said.

“是造新教室用的。” 她说。

They wanted to find out about the new classroom.

find out 就是 “查明/找出” 的意思

他们想找些关于新教室的资料。

How can they find out it?

The children looked at some books.

孩子们看了几本书。

Wilf found a book about diggers.

about 是 “关于” 的意思,

Wilf 找到了一本书,about diggers 关于挖掘机的书。

Wilf 找到了一本关于挖掘机的书。

Chip painted a picture of one.

这里的 one 是指 digger

Chip 画了一张挖掘机的图画。

Everyone looked at the blocks.

“The classroom will go on the blocks,"said Mrs May.

“教室建在砖块上。” Mrs May 说。

crane 起重机

一辆起重机开到了学校。

"What's the crane for?"asked Biff.

"Wait and see,"said Mrs May.

“等会就知道了。” Mrs May 说。

Wait and see 就是:等会就知道了,或者 那就等着瞧吧!

孩子们看着起重机。

What did the crane do?

It lifted the classroom over the wall.

起重机吊起教室,越过墙头。

Oh my! It's so strong!

Everyone watched the classroom.

大家看着教室。

It just looked like a box.

"Don't drop it."called Chip.

“别掉下来了。” Chip 喊道。

Biff looked worried.

Nothing to worry about.

Look, the classroom was right on the blocks.

The crane did good job.

Biff looked at the classroom.

Biff 看着教室,

Something was wrong.

觉得不对劲。

“Mrs May!Mrs May!"called Biff.

“Mrs May,Mrs May。"Biff 喊道。

What's wrong?

Everything looked good.

"Don't shout,Biff," said Mrs May.

“别大喊大叫,Biff," Mrs May 说。

What was Mrs May doing?

She was taking a photograph.

The crane put the classroom down.

起重机放下教室。

It put the classroom on the blocks.

把教室放在砖块上。

What did the crane put now?

The crane lifted the roof and put it on the classroom.

起重机吊起屋顶放在教室上。

Something was wrong.

有点不对劲呢。

Can you tell what was wrong?

No, I can't.

“Mrs May!"called Biff.“Something is wrong."

“Mrs May!” Biff 喊道。“有些不对劲呢。”

“Don't shout,Biff,"said Mrs May.

“别大喊大叫,Biff。" Mrs May 说。

谁都没有发现问题,只有 Biff 发现了,

Biff 发现了什么问题呢?

gasp 就是 “倒抽了一口气/大吃一惊” 的意思

所有人大吃一惊。

What's wrong with the classroom?

The classroom was upside down.

教室上下颠倒了。

“Oh dear!"said Mrs May.

“哦,天啊!” Mrs May 说。

How can you tell the classroom was upside down?

Yes. Look at the door.

“I said something was wrong,"said Biff.

“我说过不对劲嘛。” Biff 说,

"But nobody would listen."

“但没人听我的。”

Mrs May felt sorry.

Mrs May 感到抱歉,应该早点听 Biff 解释的

the right way up 就是 “正确的朝上/放正” 的意思

起重机把教室放正。

The children wanted to look inside.

"Come in." Said the builder.

The children went inside.

孩子们走进教室。

Wilf saw a door.

Wilf 看着门。

“What's in here?"asked Wilf.

“这里面是什么?” Wilf 问。

What do you think was behind this door?

Everyone gasped.

"Oh no!"said Wilf.

The toilet was upside down.
